Save Our Supports: Advocate for Ardmore

Maryland is facing a significant budget shortfall this legislative session, leading to cost containment measures across state agencies. Among the most concerning proposals are reductions to the Developmental Disabilities Administration, which funds essential services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Through our Save Our Supports advocacy efforts, we are standing together to protect the stability, independence, and community access these services make possible. Proposed cuts would have immediate and lasting consequences for individuals, families, and the providers who ensure critical supports remain in place.

This is a pivotal moment for our community. The decisions made this session will shape the future of disability services in Maryland, and our collective voice matters.

What's Is at Risk?

Proposed reductions threaten the stability that people and families depend on by:

  • Limiting Access: Fewer pathways to services for those seeking critical supports.

  • Increasing Wait Times: Extended delays that people and their families without needed assistance.

  • Reducing Choice & Flexibility: Fewer options in how and where people receive services, undermining person centered supports.

  • Increasing Crisis Risk: When community based services are weakened, people face a greater likelihood of displacement or institutional settings, outcomes that are more costly and less effective than sustained community support

DDA funding serves as the foundation that empowers Marylanders with disabilities to live in their own homes, pursue meaningful employment, and access the daily supports that make independence and community life possible.
