What You’ll Learn

The DSP II Program is built around the skills that matter most, the ones that empower you to truly support people in living full, meaningful lives in their chosen communities.

You will explore:

  • Professionalism & Ethics — Building trust, respect, and accountability so that the people you support know they can rely on you.

  • Person-Centered Practices — Placing people’s goals, dreams, and choices at the center of your work.

  • Health & Wellness — Promoting safety, independence, and healthy lifestyles that allow people to thrive.

  • Risk & Safety — Recognizing risks while empowering people to make choices and live confidently in their communities.

  • Communication — Strengthening your ability to listen, connect, and understand across different needs and cultures.

  • Community Inclusion — Supporting people to connect with opportunities, relationships, and resources where they live.

  • Employment Supports — Helping people explore and maintain meaningful work that aligns with their skills and goals.

  • Advocacy — Equipping yourself to stand with people as they use their voices, protect their rights, and pursue their futures.

These competencies are not just skills — they are the foundation for ensuring that people with disabilities have the opportunity to live fully, with dignity, independence, and connection.
